TCU Nursing Frequently Asked Questions

What is the application deadline for the nursing program?

The application deadline for fall admission is February 1st.

Is there a separate application for the nursing program?

Freshman students interested in the nursing program must first be accepted to the university. Once a continuing nursing student has completed all the requirements for the nursing major and has no more than 12 hours of TCU core requirements remaining, the continuing nursing student is eligible to begin nursing courses. All nursing majors must maintain a TCU cumulative GPA of at least 2.5. Students who come to TCU as freshman DO NOT use NursingCAS
Transfer and Accelerated students must submit an application through NursingCAS (www.nursingCAS.org). You ONLY apply to NursingCAS. You do NOT need to apply directly to TCU unless you are planning to finish prerequisite coursework at TCU prior to applying to a clinical program. Currently, we are using NursingCAS Version 2.0.

Does your nursing program start in the fall or spring?

We accept transfer student applications only for the fall semester.

What is the GPA requirement to get into the program?

How long is your nursing program?

We offer a four-year bachelor’s degree in nursing. For transfer students who have completed their nursing prerequisites and most of their TCU Core Curriculum (TCU-CC) the clinical portion of our program takes five semesters to complete, about 2 ½ years.

How many students do you admit into the nursing program each semester?

We try to accommodate 72 students in the fall.

How many transfer students do you accept each semester?

The number varies. We do give first consideration to those students who have completed most of the prerequisites at TCU. Once those students have enrolled we then open up admission to transfer students.

This can be obtained from any financial aid office or you can fill out the form online at www.fafsa.ed.gov . The TCU School Code is 003636, which allows TCU to access your financial aid information.

When you apply to TCU, you are automatically considered for Merit Based Scholarship (if you have at least a college GPA of 3.25 and at least 27 transferable college hours). Once you are admitted into the nursing program you then become eligible for outside nursing scholarships. This information is distributed to all nursing students throughout the school year.
